Job Requirements / Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years in outpatient surgical oncology or thoracic surgery; university medical center experience strongly preferred
  • Licensure: Active California Nurse Practitioner license required
  • Board Certification: One of the following required: A-GNP-C, ANP-C, FNP-C, GNP-C, AGPCNP-BC, ANP-BC, FNP-BC, GNP-BC, ACNP-BC, AGACNP-BC, ACNPC-AG, ACNPC
  • DEA: California DEA with Schedule 2/2n required
  • Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) required
  • COVID-19: Vaccine and booster required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
  • Skills: Outpatient procedures, wound / incision care, drain removals, strong documentation skills in Epic, excellent interdisciplinary communication

Primary Responsibilities

  • Independently run an outpatient thoracic surgery clinic with RN support, delivering high-quality surgical oncology care
  • Collaborate directly with thoracic surgeons and the multidisciplinary team on diagnosis, treatment plans, and follow-up care
  • Perform and document outpatient procedures including drain removals, wound care, and incision management
  • Coordinate care plans, schedule follow-ups, and provide patient education to promote safe recovery and continuity of care
  • Maintain timely, accurate documentation in Epic EMR and communicate clinical updates to surgeons, RNs, and support staff
