Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) Travel Assignment – Bangor, Maine
Travel RN opportunity in Bangor, Maine for an experienced Cardiac Stepdown / Intermediate Care Registered Nurse. Bangor is a welcoming community in 04401 with a convenient downtown area and easy access to Maine’s scenic surroundings, making it a great place to live and work. This 13-week assignment offers hands-on telemetry nursing experience caring for cardiac, medical, trauma, and post-operative patients in a supportive community hospital setting.

- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour nights
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,040 - $2,150
- Start Date: 10/20/2026
- Charting System: Cerner
- Schedule Notes: Weekend rotation every other week; holiday scheduling based on unit needs
- Orientation: General hospital orientation followed by unit orientation
Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- At least 1 year of intermediate care, PCU, or stepdown nursing experience required
- Or 2 years of Med/Surg experience with some PCU exposure
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Strong comfort caring for cardiac and medical patients in a telemetry-driven stepdown environment
- Experience with cardiac rhythm interpretation and telemetry monitoring
- Ability to manage complex patient conditions and adapt quickly in a travel nursing environment
- Experience with trachs, vents, neuro checks, and post-op or trauma patients is highly valued
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care for cardiac stepdown and intermediate care patients
- Care for patients with conditions such as CHF, STEMI, NSTEMI, AFIB with RVR, sepsis, COPD, pneumonia, and respiratory failure
- Monitor telemetry, respond to arrhythmias, and support hemodynamic needs
- Perform and assist with trach care, suctioning, and ventilator-related patient management as needed
- Complete neuro assessments and Q2H neuro checks for stroke and post-craniotomy patients
- Manage chest tubes, wound vacs, drains, ostomies, and post-procedure care
- Administer and monitor vasoactive, antiarrhythmic, and insulin drips within unit guidelines
- Start peripheral IVs and collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure safe, efficient patient care
- Float to other critical care areas when appropriate and based on patient assignment needs
