Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nursing Contract in Cleveland, Ohio

  • Work Setting: Onsite hospital assignment
  • Scheduling Note: Rotating shifts may be required based on operational needs, with efforts made to honor the traveler’s preferred shift.
  • Holiday Requirement: Work at least every other holiday during the contract.

Cardiac Stepdown Travel Nurse Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse license with a permanent Ohio license or compact-state license in hand at the time of submission.
  • At least 1 year of combined permanent experience in cardiac stepdown, progressive care, or a closely related telemetry nursing specialty.
  • Active BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • One professional reference from a manager, assistant nurse manager, supervisor, or director in the applicable specialty from the past 12 months.
  • Successful completion of ECG rhythm recognition and medication-safety assessments during orientation, with a maximum of two attempts for each assessment.
  • Ability to complete required onboarding, compliance, background, and competency requirements within established timelines.
  • Flexibility to float to comparable units and the emergency department to care for patients with similar needs, as required.

Registered Nurse Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care for cardiac and cardiothoracic patients in a stepdown, progressive care, and medical-surgical telemetry environment.
  • Monitor cardiac rhythms, vital signs, clinical status, and responses to treatment.
  • Recognize changes in patient condition and promptly communicate concerns to the provider and interdisciplinary care team.
  • Administer medications and treatments safely while following established protocols and individualized care plans.
  • Coordinate care with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, support staff, patients, and families.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, recovery, and discharge planning.
  • Document assessments, interventions, outcomes, and patient education accurately in the electronic medical record.
  • Maintain a safe, compassionate, and patient-centered environment while supporting unit teamwork and quality outcomes.
