RN Job Requirements – CVICU / Cardiac ICU

  • Minimum 18 months of recent, permanent CVICU or cardiac ICU experience (travel experience accepted)
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or a current compact nursing license
  • Current certifications: BLS (AHA or American Red Cross), ACLS, and NIHSS
  • One supervisory reference in the specialty (manager, ANM, supervisor, or director) required
  • Must pass ECG rhythm recognition test and safeMedicate assessment during orientation
  • COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
  • Available to work at least every other holiday during the contract
  • Background check and fingerprinting required prior to start

CVICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities – Cardiac Critical Care

  • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill post-op cardiac and thoracic surgery patients
  • Monitor and assess patient status, including hemodynamic monitoring and ECG rhythm interpretation; respond rapidly to changes in condition
  • Administer medications, titrate and manage complex cardiac drips, and operate advanced cardiovascular equipment
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team (cardiothoracic surgeons, intensivists, respiratory therapists, and pharmacists) to optimize patient outcomes
  • Document patient care accurately and efficiently in accordance with hospital policies and electronic medical record (EMR) systems
  • Participate in patient and family education, discharge planning, and post-op care coordination
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment and adhere to infection control and safety protocols
