Qualifications / Job Requirements

• CPC (Certified Professional Coder) certification required — CPC medical coder preferred
• Minimum 1 year professional medical coding experience (denials experience strongly preferred)
• Procedural coding background across multispecialty accounts (critical care, trauma, procedural)
• Familiarity with Florida Medicare and Medicaid payors a plus
• Comfortable completing a coding test (10 questions, approx. 1 hour)
• Strong attention to detail, open communication, and ability to accept feedback
• Consistent work approach and ability to meet productivity and quality targets

Responsibilities

• Serve as a denials specialist and final attempt to collect revenue through denial resolution and appeals
• Process 60–100 accounts per day depending on account complexity and type
• Use EPIC for coding, documentation review, and workflow tracking
• Prepare and submit appeals, compose documentation for payor communications, and manage next steps in denials workflow
• Participate in a 1-week onboarding audit with the internal audit team to learn processes and ensure coding quality
• Adapt coding approach by provider type, location, and procedure; apply procedural coding expertise to maximize collections
• Collaborate with revenue cycle and clinical teams to resolve documentation gaps and improve denial prevention
