- Scheduled Shifts: December 12, 19, 20, 23, and 29 from 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.; December 26 from 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
- Patient Volume: Approximately 90–100 patients per day; physicians typically see 18–20 patients per 12-hour shift
- Annual Emergency Department Volume: Approximately 32,000 visits
- Department: 22-bed Emergency Department with an open ICU
- EMR: Meditech 6.1
- Coverage Model: Solo emergency physician coverage with two advanced practice providers in split coverage
Emergency Medicine Physician Requirements
- Medical degree and eligibility to practice as a physician
- At least 1 year of emergency medicine experience
- Board certification is required
- NC Medicaid credentialing and active PECOS enrollment are required before placement
- Ability to manage a broad range of emergency presentations in an independent clinical setting
- Strong communication, clinical judgment, and teamwork skills
Emergency Medicine Physician Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive emergency medicine evaluation and treatment during scheduled 12-hour shifts
- Deliver standard solo emergency department coverage while collaborating with two advanced practice providers
- Assess, stabilize, diagnose, and disposition patients across a broad range of acuity levels
- Coordinate care with available anesthesia, general surgery, orthopedic surgery, and radiology services
- Manage patient flow efficiently in a department averaging 90–100 daily patient visits
- Complete timely documentation and orders in Meditech 6.1
- Collaborate with nursing, advanced practice, and specialty teams to promote safe, high-quality patient care
