Epic ClinDoc / Orders Analyst – Device Integration

Position Summary

The Epic ClinDoc / Orders Analyst – Device Integration is responsible for the design, build, integration, optimization, and support of Epic Clinical Documentation (ClinDoc) and Orders workflows with a strong emphasis on medical device integration. This role collaborates closely with clinical teams, Biomedical Engineering, Nursing Informatics, Interface/Integration teams, and IT leadership to ensure accurate, reliable, and safe data flow from bedside and clinical devices into Epic. The analyst supports implementations, device rollouts, upgrades, and ongoing optimization initiatives to enhance clinical efficiency, data integrity, and patient safety.


Key Responsibilities
  • Configure and support Epic ClinDoc and Orders workflows integrated with medical devices (e.g., monitors, infusion pumps, ventilators)

  • Design and optimize flowsheets, documentation tools, and order workflows that utilize device-generated data

  • Partner with Interface/Integration (HL7/FHIR) and Biomedical Engineering teams to support device connectivity and data validation

  • Support device integration technologies and workflows such as Epic Device Integration, Capsule, or similar vendor platforms

  • Ensure accurate mapping, validation, and display of device data within Epic

  • Collaborate with nursing, physicians, and clinical informatics teams to design safe and efficient documentation workflows

  • Participate in unit testing, integrated testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT) for device-driven workflows

  • Provide go-live and post–go-live support for new device implementations and clinical expansions

  • Troubleshoot complex device, documentation, and order issues; perform root-cause analysis and resolution

  • Develop and maintain build documentation, integration specifications, and end-user reference materials

  • Ensure solutions adhere to Epic best practices, regulatory requirements, and patient safety standards

  • Support Epic upgrades, enhancements, and continuous optimization initiatives related to device integration


Required Qualifications
  • Epic ClinDoc Certification and/or Epic Orders Certification (active)

  • 3+ years of experience supporting Epic Clinical Documentation and/or Orders

  • Hands-on experience with medical device integration in a clinical environment

  • Strong understanding of inpatient nursing workflows and clinical documentation standards

  • Experience with Epic implementations, device rollouts, or major optimization initiatives

  • Ability to translate clinical and technical requirements into Epic configuration

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Epic Device Integration, Capsule, or similar middleware solutions

  • Familiarity with HL7, FHIR, and interface workflows related to medical devices

  • Experience supporting ICU, ED, or perioperative clinical environments

  • Experience working in large health systems or academic medical centers

  • Epic proficiency or certification in additional modules (e.g., ASAP, OpTime, Anesthesia)

  • Clinical background (RN, RT, or similar)


Work Environment
  • On-site, hybrid, or remote depending on project requirements

  • After-hours or on-call support may be required during device go-lives or critical clinical events
