Travel Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-Week Contract in Bristol, Connecticut
Make a meaningful impact as a Travel Emergency Room Registered Nurse in Bristol, CT. This 13-week travel nursing assignment offers the opportunity to care for a diverse acute-care patient population in a 25-bed emergency department that treats approximately 100 patients each day. Bristol is a welcoming New England community with convenient access to parks, local attractions, dining, and the greater Hartford area.
Travel Nursing Job Details
- Location: Bristol, Connecticut
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020-$2,130
- Assignment Start: October 5, 2026
- Assignment End: January 4, 2027
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Schedule: 36 hours per week
- Registered Nurse Shift: 12-hour rotating shifts, primarily 11:00 a.m.-11:00 p.m. or 3:00 p.m.-3:00 a.m.; 7:00 p.m.-7:00 a.m. may also be available
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
- Patient Population: Diverse emergency department population, including high-acuity patients requiring stabilization and transfer
- Patient-to-Nurse Ratio: Approximately 1:4-1:5
- Documentation System: MEDITECH
- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs
- Floating: Travelers do not float
Emergency Department RN Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Connecticut
- At least 1 year of recent Emergency Department or Emergency Room nursing experience; ED experience is required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
- Strong patient assessment, prioritization, and emergency response skills
- Ability to care for multiple patients in a fast-paced acute-care environment
- Experience with electronic health record documentation; MEDITECH experience is a plus
Emergency Room Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to emergency department patients across a broad range of diagnoses and acuity levels
- Perform rapid nursing assessments, prioritize care, and monitor patients for changes in condition
- Manage critical emergency department drips and support stabilization of trauma, cardiac, stroke, and other high-acuity presentations before transfer when indicated
- Administer medications and treatments, including respiratory treatments as needed
- Collect blood specimens, initiate appropriate interventions, and coordinate diagnostic testing and patient transport
- Collaborate with emergency physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, technicians, and support staff
- Provide care in treatment areas, fast track, triage support as assigned, psych/seclusion rooms, and patient holding areas
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, reassessments, and patient outcomes in MEDITECH
- Participate in weekend and holiday coverage according to the travel assignment schedule
