Travel RN Job Details

• Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Location: New Haven, Connecticut
• Start Date: October 23, 2026
• End Date: January 22, 2027
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,090–$2,200
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Healthcare Setting: High-volume, adult-focused Level I Trauma Emergency Department and ED Observation
• Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:6 on days, nights, and weekends
• Patient Volume: Approximately 300 emergency visits per day
• Electronic Medical Record: Epic experience preferred
• Orientation: 48 hours
• Scheduling Flexibility: Block scheduling may be accommodated based on department needs
• Float Expectations: Cross-training and floating within scope to ED Observation and other area campuses may be required
• Travel Eligibility: Local candidates within 75 miles are not eligible for this assignment

Emergency Department RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license; Connecticut RN licensure is required by the start date. Pending Connecticut licensure may be considered if the application is submitted before placement.
• Two years of emergency department nursing experience preferred and required for standard submission; candidates with approximately 1.5 years may be considered with Level I trauma or travel nursing experience.
• Level I Trauma emergency nursing experience required.
• Current TNCC, ACLS, and BLS certifications required; TNS may be accepted in place of TNCC.
• Demonstrated ability to care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in a high-acuity emergency department.
• Experience with Epic electronic medical records preferred.
• Strong clinical judgment and demonstrated competency with emergency medications, dysrhythmia interpretation, IV starts, blood products, ventilated patients, central lines, chest tubes, stroke care, STEMI care, and trauma response.
• Flu vaccination is required in accordance with assignment policy.

Emergency Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive emergency nursing care to patients presenting with medical, surgical, traumatic, neurologic, cardiac, psychiatric, and behavioral health concerns.
• Rapidly assess patients, identify changes in condition, prioritize care, and initiate appropriate emergency interventions.
• Care for patients with multisystem trauma, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke, drug overdose, acute psychosis, suicidal behavior, STEMI, and other critical conditions.
• Administer emergency medications, blood products, IV therapies, vasopressors, sedation, and other treatments within scope of practice.
• Support airway and respiratory management, including care of intubated and ventilated patients and BiPAP/CPAP therapies.
• Perform and monitor 12-lead ECGs, dysrhythmia interpretation, IV access, phlebotomy, splinting, isolation precautions, and other emergency department procedures.
• Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary teams, including respiratory therapy, radiology, pharmacy, social services, interpretation services, and transportation.
• Document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and care plans accurately in Epic.
• Float or cross-train within scope to support ED Observation and other assigned emergency care areas as department needs require.
