Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in good standing
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (required unless otherwise specified by state)
- Minimum 2 years of bedside clinical experience in a hospital or acute care setting
- Experience with patient care, safe patient handling, and clinical documentation
- Ability to work night shifts, holidays, and every other weekend (night shift CNA availability)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
Responsibilities
- Provide routine direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Assist with bedside nursing, activities of daily living (ADLs), and accurate documentation of care provided
- Support patient and staff safety through safe patient handling, infection control, and materials handling
- Follow facility policies for attendance, punctuality, and professional appearance
- Demonstrate proficiency with menu management systems; assist patients with meal selections per prescribed diets
- Update and validate diet changes, menu labeling, and nourishment lists in coordination with clinical and food service teams
- Communicate patient care and food service concerns to the department and nursing leadership
- Perform clerical assignments and support Food & Nutrition office tasks as needed
- Assist trayline, food service aides, or catering when required
- Attend departmental meetings, in-services, and training to maintain competency
- Other duties as requested to support patient care and hospital operations
