- Patient Age Groups: Adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
- Charting System: Epic preferred
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of histology experience required
- Grossing experience required
- Hospital laboratory experience required
- Experience with histology processes including embedding, microtomy, staining, and frozen sections
- Ability to prepare and process routine hospital anatomical pathology specimens
- Experience with automated IHC and special stains preferred
- ASCP-HT certification preferred
- Associate degree in Science preferred
- Comfort working independently in a 1:1 setting
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and accuracy
- Must be able to accommodate scheduling expectations, including holiday coverage as needed
Responsibilities
- Perform histology workflows including grossing, embedding, microtomy, and staining
- Prepare frozen sections and mount tissue sections on glass slides
- Process routine anatomical pathology specimens in a hospital setting
- Support automated immunohistochemistry and manual special staining procedures
- Prepare ThinPrep, cell block, and cytospin specimens as needed for cytology support
- Maintain accuracy, quality, and consistency throughout all specimen preparation steps
- Work collaboratively with laboratory and clinical teams to support timely diagnostics
- Follow established laboratory protocols, safety standards, and documentation practices
