- Position: Travel MRI Technologist / MRI Tech – Hospital Radiology
- Assignment Type: Travel (13 weeks)
- Start Date: June 8, 2026
- End Date: September 5, 2026
- Schedule: 12-hour day shifts (exact days to be confirmed)
- Hours per Week: 36
- On-Call: 4 days per month
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,930 – $2,080
- Patient Volume: ~35–40 MRI patients per day (inpatient and outpatient; adult and adolescent; no pediatrics)
Qualifications / Job Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of MRI experience in a hospital setting preferred (hospital MRI technologist experience)
- Experience with GE MRI equipment required
- ARRT certification and registration in Diagnostic Radiologic Technology with Advanced MRI Registry (MR) required or must obtain within one year of hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required prior to direct patient care
- PACS experience preferred; familiarity with EHR workflows is a plus
- Associate’s degree from an ARRT-accredited program preferred
- Must live outside a 50-mile radius of Mechanicsville, VA (no local candidates)
Key Responsibilities
- Perform Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scans following established hospital MRI protocols and safety guidelines
- Apply magnetic resonance safety principles to protect patients, staff, and equipment from MRI hazards
- Select appropriate MRI pulse sequences, scan parameters, and coil selection for diagnostic quality images
- Perform IV contrast administration and manage magnetic contrast agents per institutional policies
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of patient data, exam documentation, and image labeling in PACS
- Provide direct patient care and clear pre-/intra-/post-procedure instructions to ensure patient comfort and safety
- Troubleshoot routine MRI equipment issues and report malfunctions to biomedical/maintenance teams
- Contribute to onboarding, training, and education of new staff and MRI students as a clinical resource
- Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and the radiology team to manage daily case load and workflow
