MRI Technologist Travel Job Details
- Location: Saint Louis (St. Louis), Missouri
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,930–$2,080
- Employment Type: Hospital travel contract
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Start Date: November 9, 2026
- Schedule: 3 overnight shifts per week, including Saturday, Sunday, and Monday
- Shift Duration: 12-hour nights, approximately 6:00 p.m.–6:30 a.m.
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours
- Call: Position-specific call coverage, including Monday through Thursday call responsibilities
- Patient Population: Adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
- Daily Caseload: Approximately 11 exams per scanner
- Equipment: Siemens 1.5T and 3.0T MRI scanners
- Practice Setting: Inpatient and outpatient MRI services in a Level I trauma environment
MRI Technologist Job Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience as an MRI Technologist, MRI Tech, or Magnetic Resonance Technologist
- ARRT certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Experience working in a Level I trauma environment
- Proficiency with MRI procedures involving the brain, body, musculoskeletal system, breast, and spine
- Experience with contrast administration, peripheral IV starts, PACS, image post-processing, and advanced MRI techniques
- Ability to perform or support studies such as perfusion, functional MRI, spectroscopy, cine cerebrospinal fluid flow, enterography, defecography, and breast imaging, including breast biopsy support
- Ability to complete required pre-start education, MRI safety screening, respirator clearance, and fit testing
- Availability to work designated holidays during the travel contract as scheduled
MRI Technologist Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality MRI examinations for inpatient and outpatient patients across a broad range of clinical indications.
- Prepare patients, explain MRI procedures, verify screening information, and promote a safe and comfortable imaging experience.
- Operate Siemens 1.5T and 3.0T MRI equipment while following departmental protocols and MRI, magnetic, and patient safety standards.
- Complete routine and advanced imaging studies of the brain, chest, abdomen, pelvis, breast, spine, and musculoskeletal system.
- Prepare and administer contrast media according to applicable policies and scope of practice.
- Perform image post-processing, including diffusion, perfusion, subtraction, maximum intensity projection, and multiplanar reconstruction.
- Recognize image quality concerns, repeat or modify sequences when appropriate, and communicate pertinent findings or patient needs to the care team.
- Collaborate with technologists, nurses, radiologists, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team to support efficient patient flow and excellent patient care.
