- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,490–$2,670
- Start Date: November 10, 2026
- End Date: February 9, 2027
- Schedule: 40 hours per week; five 8-hour shifts
- Shift Options: Day shifts generally scheduled between 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.; mid shifts generally scheduled between 2:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.
- Additional Scheduling: Weekend and holiday rotation; no on-call requirement
- Electronic Health Record: Recent Epic experience required
Inpatient Pharmacist Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of pharmacist experience, including strong inpatient or acute care pharmacy experience within the past 3 years
- Active pharmacist licensure in good standing in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree
- PharmD and RPh credentials preferred as applicable
- Recent Epic experience required
- Experience in a computerized hospital pharmacy setting preferred
- Experience with medication reconciliation, discharge medication management, patient counseling, medication education, and post-discharge follow-up
- Knowledge of intravenous medications, pharmacokinetic and renal dosing, anticoagulation, antibiotics, high-alert medications, sterile technique, and therapeutic drug monitoring
- Familiarity with Pyxis and Carousel pharmacy systems preferred
- Ability to work independently in a high-volume acute care environment with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Acute Care Pharmacist Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive inpatient pharmacy services for a busy acute care hospital serving neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations
- Perform complex medication reconciliation and make evidence-based medication recommendations or changes in collaboration with hospitalists
- Support discharge medication management, patient counseling, medication education, and post-discharge follow-up
- Participate in interdisciplinary care rounds and serve as a clinical liaison among acute care, ambulatory care, specialty pharmacy, long-term care, and community providers
- Provide pharmacotherapy management, clinical dosing, renal dosing, cardiac dosing, anticoagulation management, and therapeutic medication monitoring
- Review medication orders for appropriateness, safety, interactions, dosing, and compatibility
- Perform compounding and intravenous medication preparation using proper sterile technique
- Operate and support hospital pharmacy technology systems, including Epic, Pyxis, and Carousel
- Collaborate with pharmacists, providers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to promote safe, effective patient care
