Travel Pharmacist Job Details

• Position: Travel Inpatient Hospital Pharmacist
• Location: West Plains, Missouri
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,940–$3,160
• Start Date: October 12, 2026
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Schedule: Night shift; approximately 40 hours per week
• Shift Options: Four 10-hour night shifts, typically 7:30 p.m.–5:30 a.m.; weekend coverage may be scheduled from 6:00 p.m.–6:00 a.m.
• Scheduling: Block scheduling options available; final schedule to be discussed during the interview
• Weekend Requirement: Yes, including every other weekend coverage
• Patient Population: Neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Daily Census: Approximately 60 patients
• Orientation: Provided

Inpatient Pharmacist Job Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of inpatient, hospital, or acute care pharmacy experience
• Current Missouri pharmacist license; pending licensure may be accepted if the licensing process is underway or initiated after an offer
• PharmD or RPh credentials
• BLS certification preferred
• Experience with electronic medication and pharmacy documentation systems required; Meditech experience preferred
• Demonstrated competency in clinical dosing, anticoagulation therapy, warfarin dosing, renal dosing, pharmacokinetic dosing, pediatric dosing, geriatric dosing, high-alert medications, and therapeutic medication monitoring
• Knowledge of sterile technique, IV piggyback preparation, intravenous compounding, and antibiotic preparation
• Familiarity with Pyxis, unit-dose medication systems, medication storage, and automated dispensing workflows
• Working knowledge of cardiovascular, endocrine, infectious disease, pulmonary, and renal pharmacotherapy
• COVID-19 vaccination required; medical and religious exemptions may be considered
• Applicants residing within 60 miles of the assignment location are not eligible

Travel Pharmacist Responsibilities

• Verify medication orders and provide safe, accurate medication distribution for inpatient units
• Review and resolve clinical alerts through the pharmacy clinical decision-support queue, including pharmacokinetic and renal dosing alerts
• Provide anticoagulation, clinical, cardiac, pediatric, geriatric, renal, and pharmacokinetic dosing support
• Perform therapeutic medication monitoring and recommend appropriate medication adjustments
• Prepare and oversee sterile intravenous medications, IV piggybacks, compounded medications, and antibiotics according to established standards
• Support medication dispensing through Pyxis and unit-dose distribution systems
• Apply evidence-based pharmacotherapy principles across cardiovascular, endocrine, infectious disease, pulmonary, and renal conditions
• Help manage medication shortages and promote safe, cost-conscious medication use
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to support effective medication therapy and positive patient outcomes
• Work independently during overnight hours while maintaining a high standard of accuracy, communication, and clinical judgment
