Travel Physical Therapist Job Details

- End Date: February 15, 2027
- Hours: 40 hours per week
- Shift: 10-hour day shifts, typically 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- Scheduling Options: Four 10-hour shifts, Saturday through Tuesday, or five 8-hour shifts Monday through Friday with weekend rotation
- Patient Population: Neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
- Daily Census: Approximately 30 patients
Physical Therapist Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of recent Physical Therapy experience in an acute care hospital or similar hospital setting
- Active Texas Physical Therapist license in hand at the time of submission
- Current BLS certification
- Experience with electronic clinical documentation; Allscripts experience required, with Altera experience preferred
- Strong clinical skills in acute care evaluation, treatment planning, mobility, gait training, and discharge planning
- Experience treating orthopedic, neurological, pulmonary, cardiac, and post-operative patients preferred
- Ability to complete required compliance documentation and laboratory items within established timelines
- Travel Physical Therapy experience preferred
Acute Care Physical Therapist Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients and develop individualized plans of care based on clinical needs and functional goals
- Provide skilled physical therapy interventions for a broad range of diagnoses, including orthopedic, neurological, pulmonary, and cardiac conditions
- Treat total joint patients and individuals recovering from procedures involving pacemakers, stents, and other medical interventions
- Perform strength, range-of-motion, balance, mobility, gait, and functional assessments
- Provide gait training, transfer training, therapeutic exercise, adaptive equipment instruction, and patient safety education
- Support patients using walkers, crutches, wheelchairs, sliding boards, specialty beds, and other mobility equipment
- Educate patients and families on home exercise programs, injury prevention, mobility techniques, and safe discharge plans
- Collaborate with Physical Therapy, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, nursing staff, providers, and other interdisciplinary partners
- Document evaluations, treatments, reassessments, progress, and discharge recommendations accurately and promptly
