Travel Respiratory Therapist Job Details
- Position: Travel Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Setting: Hospital – Respiratory Therapy (NICU/PICU focus with mixed acuity)
- Location: Baltimore, MD 21201
- Start Date: 03/16/2026
- Contract Length: 13 weeks (through 06/15/2026)
- Shift: Nights
- Shift Duration: 12-hour nights
- Schedule: 3x12 (36 hrs/week); 4x12 (48 hrs/week) may be accepted based on staffing needs
- Typical Shift Times: 19:00–07:30 (unit scheduling may vary; some schedules may run 18:30–07:00)
- Weekends: Every other weekend
- Holidays: As scheduled
- On-Call: No pre-scheduled on-call shifts
- Floating: Required within respiratory care settings (must be strong in NICU/PICU and competent in adult assignments)
- Charting/EMR: Epic (preferred)
- Estimated Weekly Pay Range: $1,780–$1,910

Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Requirements
- Experience: 2+ years Registered Respiratory Therapist experience required
- Critical Care Expertise: Strong PICU/NICU experience required; must also be competent to care for adult patients when assigned
- Patient Population: Experience with all age groups (neonates, infants, pediatrics, adults, geriatrics)
- Licensure: Must have an active MD or Compact License at time of submission
- Certifications (required): RRT, BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP (AHA for BLS/ACLS/PALS; NRP via NRP or AAP)
- Preferred: Trauma Level I/II experience; prior charge/lead experience
- First-time travelers: Considered with a strong pediatrics + NICU-focused skillset and comfort across all RRT settings (including adults)
Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities (NICU/PICU & Critical Care)
- Provide comprehensive respiratory care with a primary emphasis on Level IV NICU and PICU, while supporting adult areas (e.g., ED, Med/Surg, ICUs) as assigned within scope
- Manage ventilated patients and deliver advanced therapies including HFNC, CPAP/BiPAP, aerosolized medications, pulmonary hygiene, and oxygen delivery modalities
- Assist with airway management and procedures such as intubation assistance, extubation, suctioning (ETT/NT), tracheostomy care, and specimen collection
- Support high-risk deliveries and neonatal/pediatric respiratory emergencies; assist with transports as needed
- Interpret ABGs/capillary gases, monitor patient response, and adjust respiratory support per provider orders and protocols
- Document accurately in the EMR and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support safe, high-quality outcomes
- Operate and troubleshoot critical care equipment including Maquet Servo i, Draeger V500, jet ventilation, oscillation, and nitric oxide
