• Setting: Hospital – Cardiopulmonary / Respiratory Therapy (inpatient/acute care)

• Contract End Date: 06/29/2026
• Duration: 13-week travel contract
• Schedule: 36 hours/week (weekly guaranteed hours)
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts
• Shift Hours: 07:00 AM – 07:30 PM
• Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend (12 hours)
• Call Requirements: None
• Float: As needed

Respiratory Therapist Job Requirements

• Experience: 1+ year of recent respiratory therapy experience (hospital/acute care experience preferred)
• Licensure/Certification: Active credentialing required to practice as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) in Virginia
• Required Certifications (current prior to start): BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP
• Clinical Skills: Ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, airway management support, and ABG collection/interpretation support
• Patient Population: Pediatric through geriatric (all ages)
• Documentation: Experience with EHR systems (McKesson experience a plus)
• Professional Skills: Strong communication, reliability, teamwork, and patient-centered care

Key Responsibilities (Hospital Respiratory Therapy)

• Provide respiratory therapy services to inpatients as ordered and within scope of practice
• Manage and monitor ventilators and non-invasive ventilation (BiPAP/CPAP), adjusting per protocol and provider direction
• Perform respiratory assessments, administer breathing treatments/aerosol therapy, and support airway management
• Obtain and assist with analysis of arterial blood gases (ABGs) and communicate clinically significant findings to the care team
• Educate patients and families on respiratory therapies, equipment use, and disease management as appropriate
• Document care accurately and on time in the electronic health record (EHR)
• Collaborate with nursing, physicians/providers, and interdisciplinary teams to support safe, high-quality patient outcomes
