Job Requirements

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
• Hospital-based respiratory therapy experience (acute care or hospital setting) preferred
• Experience with ventilator management, ventilator weaning, and mechanical ventilation (invasive and non-invasive)
• BLS and ACLS certifications
• Proficiency with oxygen/aerosol delivery devices, nebulizers, and suctioning techniques
• Ability to perform arterial punctures, oximetry, capnography, and 12-lead EKGs
• Strong communication, patient education, and clinical documentation skills

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality respiratory care and intensive therapy to patients in a hospital setting, including ventilator management and critical respiratory support
• Evaluate patients and recommend individualized treatment plans based on assessment and physician orders
• Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot ventilatory equipment (invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation)
• Administer physician-prescribed respiratory treatments, medications, humidification, and oxygen therapy
• Perform chest physiotherapy and secretion clearance using appropriate equipment and techniques
• Conduct suctioning via oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal methods following hospital policy
• Monitor patients using oximetry and capnography and respond to changes in respiratory status
• Review chest x-rays and conduct pulmonary function assessments (NIF, VC, etc.) as required
• Assist with respiratory procedures and provide tracheostomy and chest tube support as needed
• Perform arterial punctures and interpret blood gas results to assess ventilation and oxygenation
• Participate in shift-to-shift handoffs and maintain accurate, timely documentation in patient records
• Educate patients and families on respiratory treatments, equipment use, and discharge care plans
• Support safe patient transport and respond to emergencies, including performing CPR when required
• Assist with equipment maintenance and ensure compliance with hospital policies and infection control standards
