Job Details

• Location: Columbia, SC 29203 – Columbia, South Carolina (easy access to parks, arts, and outdoor recreation)
• Setting: Cardiopulmonary Intensive Care Unit (CCU/CVICU) – cardiac critical care and step-down overflow
• Assignment Type: Travel Contract (Travel RN position)
• Duration: 13 weeks (Start: March 30, 2026 – End: June 29, 2026)
• Shift: Night (19:00 – 07:30), 3 x 12-hour shifts per week
• Hours per Week: 36
• Patient Ratio: Typically 2:1
• Orientation: 72 hours
• Charting System: Epic EMR (minimum 1 year of Epic experience required)

Required Qualifications (Cardiac ICU Nurse / Critical Care RN)

• Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license (compact or state-specific as required)
• Minimum 1 year recent experience in Cardiac ICU, CCU, or CVICU
• Proven experience with advanced cardiac devices: LVAD, Impella, IABP, temporary transvenous pacer (TVP)
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (current)
• Strong dysrhythmia interpretation and management skills
• At least 1 year experience with Epic EMR
• Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
• Ability and willingness to float to other ICU and Cardiac Telemetry units as needed

Core Responsibilities (ICU RN – Cardiac Critical Care)

• Provide high-acuity nursing care to cardiac and medical intensive care patients, including step-down overflow and cardiac telemetry patients
• Manage and monitor mechanical circulatory support devices (Impella, IABP, LVAD) and temporary pacers (TVP)
• Perform hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT)
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias and post-cardiac surgery/post-cath patient care
• Perform sheath removal and manage invasive lines and central access
• Administer blood products, titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, and manage IV insulin protocols
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, and advanced practice providers
• Adhere to infection prevention, isolation precautions, and hospital policies
• Float to other qualified units when required to support patient care
