Job Requirements / Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of recent ICU RN experience (Neuro ICU experience preferred)
  • Valid RN license required (Compact license accepted; must be in hand at submission)
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record/charting system required
  • Ability to float between units and sister facilities as needed
  • Must provide 2 supervisory references covering 1 year within the last 3 years
  • Availability to work 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • Solid navy blue uniform/scrub attire required
  • Strong critical care skills, excellent communication, and teamwork for high-acuity environments

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality critical care to adult and geriatric patients in a Level II Trauma Center
  • Manage patient ratios typically 1:2 or 1:3 as an ICU Registered Nurse
  • Perform advanced Neuro and Surgical ICU skills, including CVA/Acute Stroke management
  • Care for patients with EVDs, ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, post-craniotomy and post-neurosurgery care
  • Manage ventilated patients, interpret ABGs, and provide advanced respiratory support
  • Interpret and manage dysrhythmias; titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips; manage continuous IV sedation
  • Care for arterial and central lines, perform bedside assessments, and document in Epic
  • Adhere to isolation precautions and PPE standards; maintain safe patient care practices
  • Float between units as needed and provide coverage every other weekend
