Qualifications / Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois or proof of application in progress (compact license not accepted unless valid for IL)
- BLS (AHA) and ACLS (AHA) certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of recent ICU or critical care experience — preferred experience with ventilators and vasopressor management
- Experience with PEG tube care/feedings, CVC/PICC/Midline care, and tracheostomy management
- Proficient in caring for sedated, ventilated patients and titrating vasopressors, sedatives, and pain control drips
- Ability to read telemetry strips and work with Phillips telemetry monitors
- Negative drug screen required (OSF is a Drug-Free Campus)
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients in an 8-bed ICU — ICU nursing responsibilities include assessment, monitoring, and intervention
- Manage and titrate ICU-level drips (e.g., Precedex, Propofol, Fentanyl, Versed, Lasix, Insulin, Amiodarone, Nitro, Levophed, Dopamine, Cardizem)
- Provide primary care for respiratory failure, post-surgical, wound care, IV antibiotics, post-CVA, post-trauma, and cardiac patients
- Perform PEG tube care/feedings, manage CVC/PICC/Midline lines, and care for tracheostomy patients
- Collaborate with house supervisors, tele-health physicians, and respiratory therapists available 24/7
- Float to Medical-Surgical units as needed and participate in holiday and weekend rotations
- Complete orientation and work closely with a preceptor during initial shifts to ensure safe patient care
