Travel Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) – Midland, Texas Contract
Join a collaborative Labor and Delivery team as a Travel Registered Nurse (RN) in Midland, Texas. In this fast-paced travel nursing opportunity, you will support patients across triage, antepartum, labor, cesarean delivery, and newborn transition while providing compassionate, evidence-based care to obstetrical patients and their families. Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,250–$2,370

- Duration: 16 weeks; a minimum of 13 weeks may be considered
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week
- Shift Duration: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:2
- Unit Capacity: 10 beds with a fluctuating daily census
- Orientation: 36 hours
- Patient Population: Neonates, infants, and adults
- Additional Scheduling Information: Weekend shifts may vary, and some holiday coverage is expected
Labor and Delivery RN Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license; pending licensure may be accepted at submission but must be active before the start date
- At least 2 years of recent Labor and Delivery nursing experience
- Previous charge nurse experience required
- Current BLS, ACLS, NRP, and NIHSS certifications required
- AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate, and Fetal Heart Monitoring certifications preferred or required based on assignment validation
- Experience with Cerner or comparable electronic health record systems preferred
- Demonstrated competency in fetal monitoring, obstetrical triage, high-risk antepartum care, vaginal delivery, cesarean delivery, and newborn transition
- Ability to float to Antepartum as needed
- Strong communication, clinical judgment, teamwork, and patient advocacy skills
Travel RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients throughout the labor and delivery process, including triage, antepartum, labor, cesarean delivery, and newborn transition
- Perform obstetrical assessments, sterile vaginal examinations, non-stress tests, and continuous external or internal fetal monitoring
- Recognize and respond to abnormal fetal heart rate patterns and changes in maternal or fetal condition
- Assist with vaginal deliveries, high-risk deliveries, forceps or vacuum-assisted deliveries, and cesarean sections
- Circulate for cesarean sections and support sterile procedures as assigned
- Administer and monitor medications and therapies including oxytocin, magnesium sulfate, antihypertensives, insulin infusions, terbutaline, epidural anesthesia, and blood products
- Manage IV access, infusion pumps, Foley catheters, pain control, and other labor and delivery interventions
- Identify and respond to obstetrical emergencies, including postpartum hemorrhage, hypertensive disorders, hemorrhage, and shock
- Provide newborn transition support, including APGAR assessment, identification and security banding, thermoregulation, and breastfeeding or lactation support
- Deliver patient and family education while promoting safety, dignity, and informed participation in care
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, anesthesia, and the interdisciplinary care team to promote positive maternal and neonatal outcomes
- Float to Antepartum when needed and maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation
