Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nursing Contract in Roseville, CA

Join a dedicated Labor & Delivery nursing team as a Travel Registered Nurse (RN) providing compassionate care in a high-acuity obstetric setting. This on-site California travel nursing opportunity in Roseville offers a 13-week contract, consistent 12-hour day shifts, and the chance to support high-risk labor, antepartum care, obstetric triage, cesarean deliveries, and newborn care. Roseville is a welcoming Northern California community with convenient access to Sacramento, scenic parks and trails, and the recreational destinations of the Sierra foothills.

Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse Requirements

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
  • At least 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience; most recent L&D experience within the last 6 months
  • Experience in a hospital with at least 150 births per month preferred
  • Experience with high-risk labor and delivery, antepartum care, obstetric triage, cesarean sections, and newborn care
  • Epic electronic health record (EHR) charting experience required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications
  • Fetal monitoring certification at the AWHONN beginner level or higher; Intermediate or Advanced certification preferred
  • Fetal heart monitoring competency, including recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
  • Ability to circulate for cesarean sections and float to postpartum when needed
  • Current certifications must be from AHA or ARC when applicable

Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and the immediate postpartum period
  • Care for patients with high-risk antepartum conditions, pregnancy-induced hypertension, hemorrhage risk, and other obstetric complications
  • Perform obstetric triage, sterile vaginal examinations, fetal monitoring, non-stress tests (NSTs), and ongoing maternal-fetal assessments
  • Administer and monitor medications and therapies, including Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, insulin infusions, antihypertensives, anticoagulation, and pain management
  • Assist with vaginal deliveries, high-risk deliveries, forceps or vacuum deliveries, and cesarean sections
  • Circulate for C-sections and support procedures such as epidural anesthesia, amnioinfusion, intrauterine pressure catheter (IUPC) placement, and internal fetal monitoring
  • Complete newborn assessments, APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, newborn hypoglycemia monitoring, and related infant care
  • Support breastfeeding and lactation education, discharge teaching, car seat education, and parent education
  • Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and collaborate with physicians, midwives, neonatal staff, and interdisciplinary support teams
  • Float to postpartum as needed while maintaining safe, patient-centered care
