Travel Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN) – Freeport, Illinois

Travel RN Job Details

  • Position: Travel Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery/LDRP
  • Location: Freeport, Illinois
  • Assignment Type: Travel nursing contract
  • Duration: 13 weeks
  • Start Date: October 26, 2026
  • End Date: January 25, 2027
  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,360–$2,480
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Shift Duration: 12-hour day shifts
  • Shift Schedule: 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; every other weekend
  • Unit: Labor and Delivery with 7 L&D beds, 1 Cesarean-section operating room, 2 triage beds, and 7 postpartum beds
  • Additional Scheduling: Holiday rotation and approximately 1–2 additional 12-hour call shifts per six-week period, based on staffing needs
  • Charting: MEDITECH
  • Orientation: Department-specific orientation of up to 3 shifts

Labor and Delivery RN Requirements

  • At least 1 year of recent Labor and Delivery RN experience; LDRP experience is strongly preferred
  • Active Illinois RN license required prior to submission
  • Current BLS certification
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification
  • Current AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced certification
  • Experience caring for patients with labor, preeclampsia, hypertension, obesity, gestational diabetes, and preterm labor
  • Ability to titrate Pitocin and insulin infusions
  • Current clinical knowledge of fetal monitoring and electronic fetal monitoring systems
  • Strong communication, prioritization, and patient-safety skills

Travel L&D RN Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum phases
  • Monitor maternal and fetal status and respond promptly to changes in condition
  • Support vaginal and Cesarean births, including circulating in the operating room and recovering patients after procedures
  • Provide immediate newborn stabilization and couplet care following delivery
  • Care for patients with high-risk pregnancy conditions, including preeclampsia, hypertension, gestational diabetes, obesity, and preterm labor
  • Safely administer and titrate Pitocin, insulin, and other ordered therapies
  • Provide care for clean gynecologic surgical patients, including those undergoing vaginal or abdominal hysterectomy
  • Collaborate with obstetric, pediatric, anesthesia, respiratory therapy, and support-service teams
  • Complete accurate documentation in MEDITECH while following AWHONN standards and unit protocols
  • Participate in weekend, holiday, call, and emergency coverage as scheduled
