Travel Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) – Raton, New Mexico
Bring your Labor & Delivery (L&D) nursing expertise to a supportive rural critical access hospital in Raton, New Mexico. This 13-week travel nursing assignment offers an opportunity for an experienced obstetric RN to care for laboring patients, postpartum families, and neonates on an LDRP unit in a close-knit community setting. Raton offers scenic northeastern New Mexico surroundings, outdoor recreation near the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, and a welcoming small-town atmosphere.

- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,470–$2,600
- Schedule: Day shifts, 6:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m.; alternating 3-shift/36-hour and 4-shift/48-hour weeks
- Scheduling Options: Block scheduling may be available, including a 7-on/7-off rotation
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
- Call: No call required
- Electronic Medical Record: Cerner EMR
- Unit Environment: Four LDRP rooms, one triage room, and a well-baby nursery
Labor & Delivery RN Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience
- Current New Mexico RN license or compact RN license in hand at the time of submission
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications
- Recent Cerner charting experience is required
- Ability to provide two professional references
- Comfort caring for neonates and supporting patients throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum care
- Applicants residing within 100 miles of the assignment location are not eligible
- Any requested time off must be submitted with the initial application; holiday availability is expected
Labor & Delivery Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum periods
- Monitor maternal and fetal status, recognize changes in condition, and promptly escalate concerns
- Care for neonates in delivery and well-baby nursery settings
- Support vaginal deliveries, cesarean deliveries, triage evaluations, and immediate newborn care
- Maintain safe patient care with an expected 1:1 patient ratio when assigned
- Operate and monitor perinatal equipment, including ventilators, warmers, and bilirubin lights, according to unit standards
- Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in Cerner
- Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team to promote positive outcomes for patients and newborns
- Float within the hospital or to a nearby affiliated location when required and consistent with applicable policies
