  • Shift: 4x12-hour variable shifts (Days: 07:00–19:30 or Nights: 19:00–07:30; traveler may select days or nights based on facility needs)

Job Requirements / Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of recent Long Term Care RN (LTC RN) experience — dementia, Alzheimer's, TBI, and geriatric care experience preferred
  • Previous travel nursing (Travel RN) experience required
  • Active Alaska RN license in hand (Alaska RN or compact RN with AK authorization as applicable)
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Willing to obtain Alaska Food Worker Certification during orientation (one-time $10 fee)
  • Must live at least 50 miles from the facility (no local candidates accepted)
  • Availability to work at least 2 of the 3 major winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
  • References: Minimum of 2 supervisory references covering 1 year in a comparable specialty/setting
  • Must be at least 25 years old to qualify for facility-provided rental car

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality nursing care to adults and geriatric residents with diagnoses such as dementia, Alzheimer's disease, TBI, and cognitive/physical impairments
  • Manage patient assignments with ratios up to 1:20 while ensuring resident safety and comfort
  • Perform specialized procedures: accuchecks, implanted glucose sensor management, PEG tube feedings, Duopa pump care, IV hydration, phlebotomy/lab draws, subcutaneous peritoneal dialysis support, respiratory treatments, and wound care
  • Use clinical equipment including lifts, vital sign monitors, glucose monitors, Sara Steady, pacemaker transmitters, and EKGs
  • Document care accurately using the ECS charting system
  • Float within scope of practice to meet facility needs and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members including social services
