- Healthcare Setting: 44-bed inpatient unit within a teaching hospital
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,890-$1,990
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Nursing Shift: 12-hour day shifts, 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
- Start Date: September 7, 2026
- Contract Duration: 20 weeks
- Weekend Requirement: Three weekends during each six-week schedule
- Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
- Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:3-5 on days and 1:4-7 on nights
- Float Requirement: First to float within skillset, including nearby affiliated campuses with advance notice when cross-campus coverage is needed
- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs
Medical-Surgical RN Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license, including a current compact license when applicable
- Associate degree in nursing or nursing certificate
- At least 2 years of RN experience, including 1 full year in orthopedic, neurologic, or trauma nursing
- At least 1 year of nursing experience is required if not otherwise demonstrated through specialty experience
- Previous travel nursing assignment required
- Level II trauma experience required
- Current AHA BLS certification
- Current NIHSS certification
- Recent Epic charting experience and willingness to complete a charting checkoff
- Strong neurologic assessment and clinical decision-making skills
- Ability to successfully complete a telemetry assessment, including 12-lead EKG interpretation
- Ability to work three weekends per six-week schedule and every other holiday
- Comfort working in a teaching environment that may include precepting students and new hires
Travel RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients with orthopedic injuries, neurologic conditions, and traumatic injuries.
- Perform focused and comprehensive neurologic assessments and promptly communicate changes in patient condition.
- Care for patients with hip and femur fractures, scheduled neck and back procedures, spine injuries, and rib fractures.
- Apply and manage back braces, immobilizers, assistive devices, and Buck's traction.
- Perform peripheral IV insertion and interpret telemetry and 12-lead EKG findings.
- Manage chest tubes, indwelling drains, wound vacs, packing, PEG tubes, NG tubes, and pin sites as indicated.
- Safely administer and monitor therapies such as heparin, furosemide, and pantoprazole infusions according to unit protocols.
- Provide care involving epidural, On-Q, CIWA, and behavioral health management when applicable.
- Document accurately in Epic while maintaining safe, timely, and patient-centered care.
- Collaborate with providers, therapists, patients, and families to support recovery and discharge planning.
- Float within the nurse's competency area and adapt effectively to changing patient-care needs.
