- Schedule: 36 hours per week
- Shift: 12-hour variable shifts, primarily evenings and nights
- Weekend and Holiday Rotation: Every other weekend and every other holiday
- Healthcare Setting: 20-bed medical-surgical unit with a typical census of 8–10 patients; shared ICU/medical-surgical environment
- Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:4–5 on days/evenings and 1:6–7 on evenings/nights
- Electronic Medical Record: Epic preferred
- Dress Code: Clean, professional work-appropriate scrubs
Medical-Surgical Travel RN Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin or a valid compact-state RN license
- At least 2 years of professional nursing experience
- Current BLS certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- Current ACLS certification
- Current PALS certification
- Associate degree or nursing certificate required; bachelor’s degree preferred
- Ability to read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips
- Emergency department or intensive care unit experience is highly helpful
- Ability to float occasionally to support other departments or nearby locations without assuming a primary patient assignment
Med/Surg Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients throughout the shift
- Perform nursing assessments, administer medications, monitor patient progress, and communicate changes in condition
- Interpret cardiac telemetry strips and recognize changes requiring timely intervention
- Collaborate with providers and the interdisciplinary care team to develop and evaluate individualized care plans
- Accurately document patient care and clinical updates in the electronic medical record
- Support the shared medical-surgical and intensive care environment as assigned
- Assist with vital signs and other supportive clinical tasks when floating to another department
- Participate in an every-other-weekend and every-other-holiday rotation
- Remain flexible with variable evening and night scheduling, including occasional low-census on-call coverage when needed
