- Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing assignment
- Location: Wausau, Wisconsin
- Start Date: November 2, 2026
- Assignment End Date: January 30, 2027
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,110–$2,220
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Shift: 12-hour shifts, primarily nights; approximately 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., with day/night variables as assigned
- Weekend and Holiday Rotation: Every other weekend and holiday
- Unit: Approximately 40-bed Post-Surgical Care Unit
- Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:4–5 during days/evenings and 1:5–7 on nights
- Additional Expectations: Float to inpatient units as needed; low-census adjustments may occur in hourly increments and are not considered on-call
- Radius Requirement: Applicants must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the work location
Travel Medical-Surgical RN Requirements
- At least 2 years of recent Medical-Surgical nursing experience in a hospital setting
- Recent experience in a Level II trauma environment
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Active Wisconsin Registered Nurse license
- Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate degree or nursing certificate required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
- Recent Epic electronic medical record experience required
- Ability to work every other weekend and holiday rotation
- Strong teamwork, prioritization, multitasking, and clinical judgment skills
Medical-Surgical RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients recovering from surgical procedures.
- Manage patients throughout the pre- and post-surgical care continuum.
- Assess patients, develop and implement individualized care plans, administer medications, and evaluate outcomes.
- Prioritize care according to patient acuity while managing a fast-paced post-surgical unit with frequent admissions.
- Use Epic for clinical documentation and electronic medication administration workflows.
- Operate medication-scanning technology and Alaris infusion pumps safely and effectively.
- Collaborate with providers, surgical teams, ancillary departments, patients, and families to support safe transitions of care.
- Float to other inpatient units and adapt quickly to changing patient-care needs.
