Travel Nursing Job Details

• Location: Fort Wayne, Indiana

Travel RN Job Requirements

• At least 1.5 years of recent Registered Nurse experience in a Level I, Level II, or tertiary-care setting
• At least 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience in a large hospital environment with 450 or more beds
• Active Indiana Registered Nurse (RN) license or compact RN license
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Demonstrated ability to float effectively among medical units and adapt to changing patient-care needs
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, communication, clinical judgment, and nursing documentation skills
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within an acute-care healthcare team

Medical-Surgical RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with medical, surgical, neurological, cardiac, infectious, gastrointestinal, renal, and behavioral health conditions
• Perform focused and comprehensive patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, and evaluate patient progress
• Manage patients with conditions such as COPD, diabetes, CHF, end-stage renal disease, pneumonia, sepsis, stroke, dementia, pancreatitis, and gastrointestinal disorders
• Administer medications and manage heparin and insulin infusions, IV therapies, feeding pumps, and enteral feeding tubes
• Utilize and monitor IV pumps, telemetry, wound vacs, chest tubes, sequential compression devices, and other acute-care equipment
• Provide pre-procedure and post-procedure nursing care for colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, thoracentesis, paracentesis, minor surgeries, biopsies, and incision-and-drainage procedures
• Communicate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, case managers, patients, and families
• Accurately document patient care in the Epic electronic health record and follow medication-safety procedures using automated dispensing technology
• Float to other medical units or departments according to patient census and staffing needs
• Complete required hospital, nursing, and Epic orientation before beginning independent assignment responsibilities
