Travel Nursing Job Details

• Location: Fort Wayne, Indiana
• Healthcare Setting: Acute-care medical-surgical units
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130-$2,250
• Start Date: October 19, 2026
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks, ending January 18, 2027
• Schedule: 36 hours per week
• Shift Duration: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
• Weekend Requirement: Three weekend shifts within a four-week period
• Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:5-6
• Charting: Epic electronic health record (EHR)
• Dress Code: Caribbean blue scrubs

Med/Surg Registered Nurse Requirements

• At least 1.5 years of Registered Nurse experience in a Level I, Level II, or tertiary-care hospital
• At least 1 year of medical-surgical nursing experience in a large hospital setting with 450 or more beds
• Active Indiana Registered Nurse (RN) license or compact RN license
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
• Strong patient assessment, organization, communication, and clinical judgment skills
• Ability to float to other medical units and adapt quickly to changing patient-care needs

Travel Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medical-surgical nursing care to patients with a broad range of diagnoses, including COPD, diabetes, CHF, end-stage renal disease, pneumonia, sepsis, stroke, dementia, and gastrointestinal disorders
• Perform thorough patient assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes
• Manage patients before and after procedures such as colonoscopies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bronchoscopy, minor surgeries, biopsies, and amputations
• Administer and monitor IV therapies, heparin and insulin infusions, medications, tube feedings, and other ordered treatments
• Demonstrate proficiency with IV pumps, wound vacs, chest tubes, feeding tubes and pumps, telemetry monitoring, glucose monitoring, sequential compression devices, and heating or cooling equipment
• Document accurately in Epic and use automated medication-dispensing and clinical equipment systems safely
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, providers, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Float to other medical units as needed while maintaining safe, compassionate, and evidence-based patient care
• Complete the supplemental nursing orientation program, including hospital orientation, nursing orientation, and Epic training
