  • Setting: Acute Care – Med/Surg Units (3 East, 3 North, 2 North)
  • Contract Duration: 13 weeks (April 27, 2026 – July 27, 2026)
  • Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00pm – 7:30am), every other weekend; night shift experience preferred
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Orientation: 2 shifts (12 hours each) with department-specific training

Job Requirements / Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
  • BLS Certification required (AHA preferred)
  • Minimum 1 year recent Med/Surg nursing experience (post-operative recovery experience is a plus)
  • Experience with MEDITECH charting preferred
  • Ability to safely float to ICU or Telemetry units for Med/Surg overflow (within scope)
  • First-time travel nurses are welcome — ideal travel nursing job for RNs seeking Med/Surg experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care across three Med/Surg units, including post-operative recovery and common medical diagnoses
  • Manage night shift nurse-to-patient ratios typically 1:5–6, prioritizing safe, efficient patient care
  • Care for patients with diagnoses such as post-op (general, ortho, podiatry), diabetes, CHF, COPD, cellulitis, and more
  • Collaborate closely with CNAs, charge nurses, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Utilize and monitor respiratory support equipment (BiPAP, High Flow, Vapotherm) with RT support
  • Complete accurate documentation and maintain professional standards using MEDITECH
  • Participate in holiday rotation and scheduled every-other-weekend coverage
