Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the U.S.
  • BLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
  • ACLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
  • Minimum of 2 years bedside clinical experience as an RN (Med/Surg experience preferred)
  • Experience in Med/Surg or related specialties (Thoracic Surgery, Surgical Pathology, Sub-Acute, Pediatric PACU, Pediatric OR) is a plus

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments within 8 hours of patient admission following med-surg nursing standards
  • Develop individualized care plans and identify patient and family teaching needs
  • Provide direct patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and in a timely manner
  • Participate in patient rehabilitation programs and interdisciplinary team conferences to support continuity of care
  • Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching beginning at admission
  • Communicate changes in patient status to the care team to ensure patient safety and continuity
  • Supervise and provide direction to ancillary nursing personnel and support staff
  • Promote patient and employee safety by adhering to hospital policies, infection control, and safety procedures
  • Contribute positively to team building and a professional, supportive work environment
  • Assume charge nurse responsibilities as needed for unit coordination and staffing
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and continuing education relevant to medical-surgical nursing
