We are seeking a dedicated Med/Surg RN / Med-Surg Nurse for a 13-week travel contract to provide patient-focused bedside care, support recovery and rehabilitation, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in an acute care hospital setting.

Job Details – Travel Nursing Job (Med/Surg)

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,680 – $1,770 (competitive travel nurse pay)
• Location: New Orleans, LA 70121 – local candidates and travel nurses welcome (New Orleans nursing jobs, Louisiana travel nursing)
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks
• Hours per Week: 36
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts (3 shifts/week)
• Employment Type: Travel, On-site – Travel Nurse, Med/Surg RN role in an acute care hospital
• Start Date: ASAP

Required Qualifications – Registered Nurse (RN) / Travel Nurse

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the U.S. (compact license accepted where applicable)
• BLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
• ACLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg bedside clinical experience (2 years preferred)
• Experience in acute care, medical-surgical nursing, or similar hospital med-surg unit

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments within 8 hours of patient admission and ongoing reassessments as needed
• Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
• Provide direct patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for med-surg patients
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and in a timely manner in the electronic health record
• Promote patient and staff safety by adhering to hospital policies, infection control, and safety protocols
• Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching from admission to support safe transitions of care
• Communicate clinical changes in patient status to care team members to ensure continuity of care
• Supervise and delegate tasks to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and orienting staff
• Participate in team-building activities to foster a positive, collaborative nursing environment
• Assume charge nurse responsibilities as needed after orientation and demonstrate leadership in the med-surg unit
• Engage in ongoing professional development, continuing education, and competency maintenance
