- Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Shifts per Week: 3 (36 guaranteed hours)
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130 – $2,250
- Scheduling: API electronic schedule, block scheduling allowed
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (Fri/Sat nights)
- Dress Code: Any color professional scrubs; no visible tattoos or piercings except ears
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse license in Illinois, or proof of application in process
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association
- Minimum 1 year recent Med/Surg RN experience in acute care
- Clinical proficiency with central lines, tracheostomies, and chest tube management
- EPIC charting experience preferred; EPIC proficiency strongly desired
- Travel RN experience preferred; Level I trauma center experience considered
- Ability to pass a comprehensive drug screen for a drug-free campus
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to adult patients with acute medical conditions including cellulitis, sepsis, dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, syncope, anemia, diabetes, respiratory failure, liver and kidney failure, and behavioral health/addictions
- Manage nurse-to-patient ratios of approximately 1:5-6 on night shifts while ensuring patient safety and timely interventions
- Perform accurate patient assessments, medication administration, wound care, and treatments in an acute care Med/Surg setting
- Provide care for patients with central lines, tracheostomies, and chest tubes; collaborate with respiratory therapy and monitor RT equipment such as BiPAP, CPAP, inhalers, and suctioning
- Document thoroughly and maintain accurate electronic health records using EPIC
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including charge RNs, patient care technicians, physicians, and therapists
- Float to other acute care general medicine areas as needed, including nephrology, neurology, orthopedics, and oncology
- Complete 2-3 shifts of unit-specific orientation to ensure safe, competent practice
