Travel Nursing Job Details

• Location: Columbus, Ohio
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,940–$2,040

• Hours: 36 hours per week

• Orientation: 72 hours
• Weekend Coverage: As needed based on unit requirements

Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of current acute care RN experience in Med/Surg Tele, medical-surgical nursing, telemetry nursing, or a closely related specialty
• Recent, consistent experience in the specialty within the past 12 months
• Active Ohio RN license or valid compact RN license in hand at the time of submission
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred or required where applicable to the assignment
• Epic electronic medical record (EMR) experience required
• Experience caring for oncology, palliative care, or other high-acuity medical-surgical patients preferred
• Knowledge of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic pain interventions, including equianalgesic opioid dosing
• Ability to float to units with equivalent or lower acuity
• Proficiency with dysrhythmia interpretation and management, heparin protocols, IV therapy, phlebotomy, patient-controlled analgesia (PCA), oxygen administration, isolation precautions, and non-invasive airway management
• Willingness to complete required Ohio fingerprinting and credentialing steps promptly
• Flu vaccination required; medical exemptions may be considered
• Education from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program

Med/Surg Tele RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to adult patients with serious, complex, and life-limiting illnesses
• Assess patients and develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans
• Manage symptoms including pain, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, and failure to thrive
• Administer medications and therapies while monitoring for effectiveness and adverse reactions
• Apply evidence-based pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic pain management strategies
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
• Collaborate with providers, interdisciplinary team members, patients, and families regarding goals of care and treatment decisions
• Support patients and families with dignity, clear communication, and culturally sensitive care
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in Epic
• Float to comparable units as needed while maintaining high standards of patient safety and patient care
