Medical-Surgical Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) – Night Shift Travel Nursing Contract in Evansville, Indiana

Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,930–$2,030
- Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical-Surgical Telemetry
- Unit: 41-bed cardiac and renal medical-surgical telemetry unit
- Shift: 6:30 p.m.–7:00 a.m., 12-hour night shifts
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Start Date: September 7, 2026, with scheduled orientation
- Assignment Length: 20 weeks; a 13-week travel nursing contract option may also be available
- Weekend Requirement: Three weekends every six weeks
- Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
- Float Expectation: May float within the RN skill set, including to nearby campuses, with advance notice when cross-campus coverage is needed
- Healthcare Setting: On-site, high-acuity teaching environment
Medical-Surgical Telemetry RN Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license with a current compact license
- Associate degree or nursing certificate
- At least 2 years of strong cardiac and telemetry nursing experience
- At least 1 prior travel nursing assignment
- Level II trauma experience
- Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications
- Current NIHSS certification
- Recent Epic electronic health record experience
- Strong telemetry and 12-lead EKG interpretation skills, including successful completion of required telemetry testing
- Excellent patient assessment, communication, critical-thinking, and time-management skills
- Applicants must meet the applicable 40-mile local candidate radius requirement
Medical-Surgical Telemetry RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for high-acuity medical-surgical and telemetry patients
- Monitor and manage patients with atrial fibrillation, rapid ventricular response, atrial flutter, heart blocks, heart failure, COPD, sepsis, behavioral health or CIWA needs, post-ablation care, and dialysis-related conditions
- Interpret telemetry and 12-lead EKG findings and promptly communicate changes in patient condition
- Initiate and titrate ordered infusions, including antiarrhythmics, heparin, amiodarone, diltiazem, furosemide, and other applicable therapies
- Perform peripheral IV insertion and provide care for chest tubes, indwelling drains, nephrostomy tubes, and continuous bladder irrigation
- Complete thorough patient assessments, medication administration, care planning, clinical documentation, and patient education
- Collaborate with providers and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to support safe, effective patient outcomes
- Float within the appropriate RN skill set as needed and adapt effectively to changing assignments
- Support a teaching environment by precepting students or new team members when requested
