Neuro Registered Nurse (RN) Travel Nurse Job – 13-Week Assignment in Portland, Maine
Join a supportive inpatient neuro nursing team as a Travel Registered Nurse (RN) in Portland, Maine, caring for complex neurosurgical, orthopedic, and trauma patients on night shift. Travel Nursing Job Details
- Location: Portland, Maine
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,120–$2,230
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: October 19, 2026
- Schedule: 36 hours per week
- Shift Duration: 12-hour shifts
- Shift: Nights, approximately 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Call Requirement: None
- Unit: 26-bed neuro-focused inpatient unit
- Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:4–5 on days and 1:5–6 on nights
- Electronic Medical Record: Epic
Travel RN Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Maine
- At least 1 year of professional nursing experience
- Recent neuro or neurosurgical nursing experience required
- Experience caring for complex medical-surgical, orthopedic, or trauma patients preferred
- Ability to care for patients with neurological and neurosurgical conditions, including spinal procedures, spine fractures, brain tumors, seizure disorders, VP shunts, head bleeds, traumatic injuries, and joint replacement procedures
- Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Professional appearance and adherence to workplace dress standards
Neuro Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, comprehensive nursing care to patients with neurological, neurosurgical, orthopedic, and traumatic conditions
- Perform nursing assessments, monitor for changes in neurological status, and promptly communicate significant findings
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with clinical standards and provider orders
- Monitor patients recovering from spinal surgery, joint replacement, and other complex procedures
- Provide education and support to patients and families throughout the care experience
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, rehabilitation professionals, and other members of the healthcare team
- Document patient care accurately in Epic
- Float to other units as needed and contribute to a positive, proactive team environment
