Travel NICU Registered Nurse (RN) Job in Madison, Wisconsin – Level IV NICU

  • Shift Duration: 12-hour rotating shifts
  • Shift Schedule: Day shift (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) and night shift (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Hours Per Week: 36
  • Weekend Coverage: Required, with approximately 2-3 weekends per 6-week scheduling period
  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130 - $2,250
  • Orientation: 24 hours
  • Unit: Level IV NICU
  • Patient Population: Neonates requiring advanced medical and surgical care

Job Requirements

  • Active RN license required
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications from AHA required
  • Minimum 2 years of NICU III/IV experience required
  • At least 1 full year of Level IV NICU experience required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Experience caring for post-op patients, g-tubes, trach/vent management, and invasive/noninvasive ventilation
  • Travel RN experience preferred
  • Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced acute care environment
  • Ability to float to other pediatric areas caring for patients under 12 months of age
  • Pass/fail telemetry testing required prior to start

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate, high-quality NICU nursing care to critically ill newborns and infants
  • Support patients from admission through discharge in a family-centered neonatal intensive care environment
  • Monitor and manage neonates with complex medical and surgical needs
  • Administer and monitor advanced respiratory support, including ventilator management
  • Care for infants with congenital conditions, neurological disorders, surgical recovery needs, and other high-acuity diagnoses
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and interdisciplinary pediatric healthcare team members
  • Provide education and emotional support to families throughout the care experience
  • Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and follow established clinical protocols
  • Float as needed to other pediatric units caring for patients under 12 months of age
