- Patient Ratio: 2:1 on days, nights, and weekends
- Charting System: Epic preferred
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Weekend Coverage: Required
- Float Requirement: May float to postpartum or nearby sister facilities as needed
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of NICU nursing experience required
- Active California RN license required
- BLS, NRP, and STABLE certifications required
- Experience with Epic preferred
- Experience supporting 2:1 patient ratios preferred
- Strong comfort with neonatal care and high-risk delivery support
- Ability to work 2 of the 3 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year
- Must be willing to float when needed
- References required during the compliance process
Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to neonates in the NICU
- Support high-risk deliveries and stabilization of newborns
- Manage CPAP, high-flow support, and UAC/UVC lines
- Care for neonates with a variety of gestational ages, including 29-34 weeks and 34+ weeks
- Collaborate with respiratory, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and other interdisciplinary team members
- Promote breastfeeding support and safe handling of breast milk
- Monitor infants closely and respond promptly to changes in condition
- Prepare infants for transfer to a higher level of care when needed
- Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to a safe, efficient unit environment
