Travel NICU Registered Nurse (RN) – Level III NICU | 12-Hour Night Shift | Fort Wayne, IN

Travel NICU RN job in Fort Wayne, Indiana for an experienced Registered Nurse seeking a Level III NICU assignment. Join a specialized neonatal intensive care unit team caring for critically ill and premature newborns on 12-hour night shifts.

Travel RN Job Details (NICU)

  • Location: Fort Wayne, IN
  • Start Date: 03/09/2026
  • End Date: 06/08/2026
  • Duration: 13 weeks
  • Schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Shift Duration: 12-hour nights
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week (full-time)
  • Unit: Level III NICU (31 beds)
  • Patient Ratios: 1:1 or 1:2
  • Charting/Systems: Epic; Pyxis
  • Float Expectations: May float to age-appropriate Pediatrics/PICU as needed
  • Orientation: Mandatory (Mon–Fri week 1; Mon–Tue week 2; 8-hour days)
  • Dress Code: Caribbean blue scrubs

NICU RN Requirements

  • Experience: 2+ years of recent Level III NICU Registered Nurse (RN) experience
  • License: Active Indiana RN license (or ability to obtain prior to start)
  • Certifications: BLS (AHA) and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • Skills: Neonatal assessment, critical thinking, ventilator/critical care support, and family communication in a NICU setting
  • Availability: Ability to attend all required orientation days and work scheduled night shifts

Key Responsibilities (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit)

  • Provide safe nursing care to critically ill and premature neonates in a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
  • Perform comprehensive neonatal assessments, monitor patient status, and respond rapidly to changes in condition
  • Administer medications and manage therapies using Pyxis and unit protocols
  • Document accurately and on time in Epic EMR to support continuity of care and regulatory compliance
  • Collaborate with neonatologists, respiratory therapy, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement individualized plans of care
  • Educate and support families with clear, compassionate communication throughout the NICU stay
  • Maintain infection prevention, equipment checks, and patient safety standards in accordance with NICU policies
  • Float to age-appropriate Pediatrics/PICU when needed and within competency
