NICU Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-Week Contract in Fort Wayne, Indiana

NICU RN contract opportunity in Fort Wayne, Indiana, for an experienced neonatal nurse providing compassionate care in a Level 2 NICU.

NICU RN Contract Details

  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130–$2,250

  • Healthcare Setting: Acute care; 31-bed unit with typical 1:1 or 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratios
  • Location: Fort Wayne, Indiana
  • Start Date: November 2, 2026
  • Assignment Duration: 13 weeks, ending February 1, 2027
  • Schedule: 36 hours per week; three 12-hour shifts. Primary day shift is 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.; days or nights may be available based on unit needs.
  • Orientation: Mandatory 8-hour orientation days during the first two weeks, including all seven scheduled orientation days
  • Charting and Medication Systems: EPIC and Pyxis
  • Dress Code: Caribbean blue scrubs

NICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • At least 2 years of Level III NICU nursing experience
  • Current Indiana Registered Nurse (RN) license, or willingness to obtain one before placement
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • Demonstrated ability to provide safe, compassionate neonatal nursing care and support for infants and their families
  • Flexibility to float to age-appropriate Pediatric or PICU assignments when needed

NICU RN Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to neonates in a Level 2 NICU and acute-care nursery
  • Assess patients, monitor clinical status, and promptly communicate changes to the interdisciplinary care team
  • Administer medications and treatments safely using established protocols and Pyxis medication administration systems
  • Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in EPIC
  • Collaborate with providers, specialists, and families to promote positive neonatal outcomes
  • Provide education and emotional support to parents and caregivers throughout the infant’s care journey
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and developmentally appropriate environment for neonatal patients
  • Float to age-appropriate Pediatric or PICU patients as assigned
