NICU Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Assignment

NICU Registered Nurse – Travel Assignment | San Francisco, CA — 13-week contract. Seeking an experienced Level IV NICU RN (BSN, active CA RN license, BLS & NRP) for a high-acuity travel nursing opportunity in Mission Bay.

Job Details

  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,110 - $2,220 (competitive travel nurse pay)
  • Location: San Francisco, CA 94158 — premier San Francisco healthcare facility in Mission Bay
  • Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 4/28/2026 – End: 7/28/2026)
  • Shift: 12-hour rotating day/night shifts (07:00–19:30 & 19:00–07:30), 3 shifts per week
  • Setting: Level IV NICU (58 beds, daily census ~52) — high-acuity neonatal unit
  • Employment Type: Travel Nursing / Travel Nurse (NICU RN)

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of recent Level IV NICU experience as a Neonatal Nurse
  • Active California RN license (required for California nursing jobs / San Francisco travel nurse roles)
  • BSN required
  • AHA BLS and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications
  • Competency in ventilator management, tracheostomy care, telemetry, pulmonary artery lines, umbilical/central line management, and chest tube management
  • Experience with UVCs, UACs and ability to float to PICU and CICU as needed
  • Epic EMR / Epic charting system experience
  • COVID-19 vaccination and booster required (medical/religious exemptions only)
  • Prior travel nursing experience within the last 12 months preferred
  • Ability to float to other healthcare facilities within the system as needed
  • Preferred: STABLE certification and prior teaching hospital experience

Responsibilities

  • Deliver expert neonatal care for critically ill infants in a Level IV NICU as a NICU RN / Neonatal Nurse
  • Attend high-risk deliveries and provide advanced neonatal resuscitation and support
  • Manage ventilators, tracheostomies, chest tubes, pulmonary artery lines, and central lines
  • Perform UVC/UAC procedures and manage umbilical and central lines safely
  • Float to PICU, CICU, and Newborn Nursery when required by unit staffing
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (neonatology, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, social work) to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Educate and support families throughout the care process with compassion and clear communication
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation using Epic EMR and adhere to unit policies
  • Follow infection control, isolation precautions, and facility safety protocols
