Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) Physician – Locum Tenens in Clyde, North Carolina
Join an on-site OB/GYN locum tenens opportunity in Clyde, NC, providing inpatient obstetric and gynecologic care during holiday coverage. This per diem physician role offers the opportunity to practice in scenic western North Carolina near Asheville while supporting an expanding provider team. The initial need begins December 18, 2026, with potential for additional coverage.
Locum Tenens Physician Job Details
- Location: Clyde, North Carolina
- Assignment Type: Locum tenens per diem physician coverage
- Initial Coverage: December 18–19, 2026, with holiday coverage needs potentially extending through December 25
- Schedule: Per diem shifts; specific shift details to be confirmed
- Patient Volume: Approximately 4–6 inpatient encounters per shift
- Department Size: 11 beds
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $6,390–$7,570
- Credentialing: Standard credentialing may take approximately 90 days. Temporary privileges may be available for providers with a clean malpractice history and a clear NPDB report.
OB/GYN Physician Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience practicing obstetrics and gynecology
- Physician board certification or board-certification eligibility
- Active authorization to practice in North Carolina
- North Carolina Medicaid eligibility
- Current ACLS certification
- Demonstrated competency in inpatient obstetrics, complicated deliveries, and surgical gynecology
- Availability to provide holiday and per diem coverage
Obstetrics and Gynecology Physician Responsibilities
- Evaluate and manage patients with low-risk and high-risk pregnancies
- Interpret fetal heart rate monitoring, including NST, CST, and FSE data
- Perform and interpret Level I obstetric ultrasounds; Level II targeted ultrasound experience is preferred
- Provide routine vaginal deliveries and make clinical decisions regarding cesarean sections
- Manage complicated deliveries, including cesarean sections, breech presentations, multiple births, and abruptions
- Repair third- and fourth-degree lacerations
- Perform office and minor gynecologic procedures, including IUD placement, cystoscopy, colposcopy, cryosurgery, and LEEP
- Perform open and laparoscopic gynecologic procedures, including tubal ligation, lysis of adhesions, treatment of ectopic pregnancy, oophorectomy, cystectomy, and extensive lysis of adhesions
- Collaborate with the care team to deliver safe, high-quality obstetric and gynecologic care
