Travel Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) – Night Shift in Aurora, Colorado
Travel Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) needed for a 13-week night shift contract in Aurora, CO. Join a collaborative adult oncology team providing acute-care nursing for medically complex patients with strong interdisciplinary support.
This onsite travel nursing opportunity offers the chance to care for adult oncology, gynecologic oncology, palliative care, and medical telemetry patients. Located near the Rocky Mountains, Aurora provides convenient access to outdoor recreation, cultural attractions, and the vibrant Denver metropolitan area.
Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020–$2,130
- Location: Aurora, Colorado
- Assignment: 13-week travel nursing contract
- Start Date: November 2, 2026
- End Date: February 1, 2027
- Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week, 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.; various days of the week
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekend Coverage: Approximately 6 weekend shifts per 6 weeks, based on unit needs
- Patient Population: Adults
- Unit: 36-bed oncology, gynecologic oncology, palliative care, and medical telemetry setting
- Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:4 on days and 1:5 on nights, with flexibility based on staffing and unit needs
- Charting: Epic electronic medical record
- Float: May float within scope to like units or nearby affiliated locations as needed
- Call: Not required
Travel Oncology RN Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of recent acute-care registered nursing experience, preferably in oncology
- Active Colorado or Compact Registered Nurse license
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Epic electronic medical record experience required
- Trauma Level II experience required
- Oncology certification such as OCN or an ONS/ONCC chemotherapy credential is preferred but not required
- Experience caring for patients with flexible staffing ratios and a typical assignment of 4–5 patients
- Comfort working night shifts, weekend coverage, and floating within scope
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, teamwork, and patient advocacy skills
Oncology Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to adult oncology and medically complex patients during night shifts
- Administer and monitor chemotherapy, blood products, antibiotics, antineoplastics, antiemetics, and other prescribed therapies according to policy
- Access and manage ports, central lines, PICC lines, and other implanted or vascular access devices
- Recognize and respond to complications including neutropenia, sepsis, anaphylaxis, extravasation, tumor lysis syndrome, hemorrhage, altered mental status, and abnormal laboratory values
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, medication administration, pain management, wound care, and post-surgical care
- Provide patient and family education related to treatment plans, symptom management, isolation precautions, and advance directives
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary partners, including pharmacy, respiratory services, physical therapy, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams
- Complete accurate nursing documentation in Epic and communicate changes in patient condition promptly
- Float to comparable units or locations when needed while maintaining care standards and practicing within scope
