Job Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of operating room experience and trauma experience
- Prior travel surgical tech experience required
- Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association
- CST or ORT certification preferred/required
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and occasional additional shifts as needed
- Ability to float to other areas within competency level when needed
- Strong hand-eye coordination and technical patient care skills
- Ability to support scrub duties and work effectively under the supervision of a registered nurse
Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating room with the correct instruments, supplies, and equipment for each surgical procedure
- Maintain a sterile field and identify breaks in aseptic technique
- Anticipate the surgeon's needs and pass instruments promptly during procedures
- Assist under direct supervision with suctioning, retracting, irrigation, and dressing application
- Support efficient room turnover by cleaning, caring for, and preparing instruments and equipment for the next case
- Communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other perioperative team members
- Inspect equipment before and after procedures and report any issues or malfunctioning items
- Provide safe, technical patient care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
