Overview

This 13-week travel Certified OR/Surgical Technologist (CST) assignment offers the opportunity to support an 8-room operating room environment in a well-connected suburban Maryland location. You’ll work evenings alongside an interdisciplinary surgical team, contribute to quality patient care, and gain exposure to a wide variety of surgical specialties. First-time travelers are welcome.

• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 8-hour evenings
• Shifts Per Week: 5
• Hours Per Week: 40
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,670 - $1,790
• Orientation: 36 hours
• Call: 5-6 calls per 4-week period, including one weekend call
• Weekend Coverage: One shift every other weekend
• Floating: May be required within specialty and to a nearby sister campus as needed
• Patient Population: Adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Operating Rooms: 8

Job Requirements

• 2 years of operating room or surgical technologist experience required
• Current CST certification required
• Current BLS certification required
• ACLS preferred or required per compliance expectations
• Community hospital experience required
• Strong experience supporting a variety of surgical specialties, including general surgery, bariatrics, trauma, GYN, urology, robotics, orthopedics, neurosurgery, and podiatry
• Comfortable with call, weekend coverage, holidays as scheduled, and floating within scope
• Strong knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and OR safety practices
• First-time travelers are welcome

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain the operating room for a wide range of surgical procedures
• Support surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia teams during procedures
• Maintain strict sterile technique and ensure a safe surgical environment
• Assist with setup, instrumentation, equipment handling, and turnover between cases
• Work efficiently across multiple specialty cases, including high-acuity and complex procedures
• Manage surgical supplies, trays, and equipment while supporting smooth OR workflow
• Respond to call requirements and contribute to weekend and holiday coverage as assigned
• Adapt to changing case needs while delivering excellent patient-focused care
