Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) – Travel Nursing Contract in Lamar, Colorado

Join a collaborative surgical services team as an Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) in Lamar, Colorado. This travel nursing contract offers perioperative nursing experience across pre-operative care, operating room circulation, and post-anesthesia care (PACU) in a close-knit healthcare setting.

Travel RN Job Details

  • Location: Lamar, Colorado 81052
  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,950–$3,100
  • Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
  • Start Date: October 19, 2026
  • Assignment End Date: January 18, 2027
  • Schedule: 40 hours per week
  • Shift: 8-hour day shifts, generally 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • Call Coverage: Rotational weekday, weekend, and holiday call; occasional late days may be required based on surgical case volume
  • Clinical Setting: Surgical services, operating room, pre-operative care, and PACU
  • Surgical Cases: General surgery, OB/GYN, ophthalmology including cataract procedures, and occasional orthopedic surgery

Operating Room Nurse Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Colorado
  • Experience across pre-operative care, operating room circulation, and post-anesthesia care (PACU) required
  • Three years of experience across pre-op, operating room, and PACU settings preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to practice independently in pre-operative care, OR circulation, and post-anesthesia recovery
  • Current ACLS certification
  • CNOR certification preferred
  • Operating room scrub experience preferred
  • Strong communication, patient education, organization, and clinical judgment skills
  • Ability to remain effective in high-stress situations and manage prolonged periods of standing, walking, and patient-care activity

Perioperative RN Responsibilities

  • Perform pre-operative assessments, prepare patients for surgery, and provide education and emotional support
  • Circulate surgical cases while maintaining patient safety, accurate documentation, and adherence to established procedures
  • Recover patients in the PACU and monitor their condition throughout the post-anesthesia period
  • Coordinate patient transfers and communicate effectively with providers and the multidisciplinary surgical team
  • Assist with the processing of instruments and equipment in central sterilization
  • Support colleagues and contribute to an efficient operating room workflow
  • Follow infection-control practices and recognized professional standards for perioperative, endoscopic, and post-anesthesia care
  • Provide safe, compassionate, and individualized nursing care throughout the surgical experience
