- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,250-$2,370
- Setting: Pre-op / PACU in a community hospital with 7 operating rooms
- Shift Range: Start times range from 6:00a-6:30p, 7:00a-7:30a, 8:00a-8:30a, and 9:00a-9:30a
- On-Call Requirement: Approximately 3-4 weeknight calls and one 24-hour weekend call in an 8-week period, with call needs adjusted based on staffing
- Weeknight Call Hours: 9:00p-7:00a
- Weekend Call Hours: 7:00a-7:00a
- Location: Ithaca, NY 14850 - a scenic and lively Finger Lakes destination with outdoor recreation, dining, and a strong community feel
Job Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience in PACU, pre-op, outpatient surgery, or a related perioperative nursing setting
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- Strong assessment skills and the ability to quickly recognize changes in patient condition
- Comfort working in a fast-paced surgical recovery environment
- Ability to participate in the required call schedule
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient education skills
- Must be able to adapt to varied surgical cases and changing patient acuity
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate care for patients in pre-op and PACU
- Complete pre-operative assessments and prepare patients for surgery
- Monitor post-anesthesia patients, including vital signs, pain level, airway status, and overall recovery progress
- Support discharge readiness by reinforcing instructions and ensuring patients meet recovery criteria
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiology, and perioperative team members
- Respond to call coverage needs and remain flexible as staffing demands change
- Care for a diverse surgical population across specialties such as neuro, plastics, ENT, breast, general, GYN, urology, ortho, vascular, and endoscopy
- Maintain a calm, organized approach while delivering high-quality patient care
